Timeplace Wine Co
Picpoul 2019
Lodi, California
This varietal is more well-known in France and a unique find in the United States. Sourced from the Terra Alta vineyard , farmed by Markus Bokisch, Timeplace offers a classic take on the quintessential aperitif wine, with a touch more weight and gravitas.
Vineyard
Terra Alta Vineyard is farmed by Markus Bokisch, who farms nearly 2,500 acres of Lodi fruit. He discovered Lodi in 1989 while working as a viticulturalist for Joseph Phelps. Blown away by what an empty canvas the area offered, he has since made a career out of farming Lodi with integrity and pushing further to reach its potential. Markus’ philosophies are to make sure that the complex soils of volcanic ash tufa in the flats and the redding loam soils on the knolls are truly expressed in this place. Markus is incredibly generous with his time and knowledge, and allows Jamey to choose ripeness and pick on the day he chooses. This is especially important in making lighter-styled, fresh, and vibrant wines.
Winemaking
Grapes are whole-cluster pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in stainless steel.
