Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red Mountain
Grand Ciel Cabernet is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Cabernet from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured Cabernet. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel. First vintage 2004.
Vineyard
Estate managed from one block within the Grand Ciel vineyard. High density plantings with Bordeaux sourced clippings.
Winemaking
Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented 14-16 days on skin, aged 20 months in 100% French oak (100% new) and aged in bottle 18 months prior to release.
Vintage Note
Summer temperatures were cooler and considerably more even than in recent years, with a notable lack of heat spikes. Overall, temperatures across the 2019 growing season were slightly above 20-year averages but were nowhere near as warm as the years that preceded it. Growers and winemakers alike were excited about the quality of fruit they picked 2019. – washingtonwine.org
Tasting Note
“Brilliant notes of pure cassis and darker currants fruits as well as tobacco leaf, chocolate, dried herbs, and some loamy earth all emerge from the glass, and it’s full-bodied, has a pure, elegant, balanced mouthfeel, silky tannins, and is just a quintessential, impeccably made Cabernet from this team.” – Jeb Dunnuck
