Sourced from the Darioush Estate valleys throughout the Napa Valley, all with unique, cooler Southern Napa Valley Climates, the Signature Chardonnay is progrssive in its integration of precision, richness and complexity. The wine displays signature varietal characteristics that are matched with the inherent freshness and vibrancy.
Winemaking
Aimed at preserving the precision and freshness of the variety, fruit is hand harvested at night then whole cluster pressed. Following a cool fermentation, the wine is barrel aged sur-lie for 11 months in 60% New French oak with weekly batonnage. 100% of the wine undergoes Malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Note
Bright and immensely refreshing, 2019 Signature Chardonnay opens with a burst of citrus and wet stone aromas. Full-bodied yet vivacious, the wine exhibits a sturdy core of lemon curd and Granny Smith apple flavors segueing to beeswax and quince on the mid-palate, complemented by secondary flavors of hazelnut and brioche. A juicy, crisp, and lingering finish leaves an impression of salinity, reminiscent of fresh oysters or nori.
