Le Cinciole

Chianti Classico

Founded in the early 90s by husband-wife team Luca and Valerie Orsini, Le Cinciole thoughtfully stewards their vineyards in Chianti Classico with unyielding convictions to organic, sustainable and biodynamic principles. Located in the region’s central subzone of Panzano, the moderate climate and marly, sandstone soils combine to foster some of the finest grapes in the region. Steeped in the history of the place, Le Cinciole produces classically styled Chianti with finely textured tannins, as well as a reliable blend of international varietals.

Rather than resting on the laurels of the area, the winery pays obsessive attention to the land and their cellar, replanting sites as necessary and acquiring new and modern equipment with time. Decision making is carefully considered with long-term planning in mind, like their choice to introduce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in 2000. The winemaking, while at it’s core traditional, is performed in immaculate cellars with no corners cut to provide clean and classically styled wines. Their steady, stable process has garnered widespread critical attention and recognition as one of the region’s most distinctive and progressive estates.

Wines

Petresco

Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT

Along with their Chianti Classico, Petresco is a flagship for Le Cinciole and has been in continuous production since the winery's founding. Hailing from a single vineyard at an optimum 470m elevation, the 100% sangiovese grows on galestro and limestone, providing a refreshing zip down the midpalate without losing any Chianti typicity.

Camalaione

Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT

Crafted exclusively with international varieties, Camalaione is an example of Le Cinciole's willingness to experiment, adapt and grow. Having introduced these vines in 2000, the blend is proof of the Orsini's beliefs on terroir; that a unique mix of soil and climate will shine through into any wine, and that any appropriate grape will thrive in the Tuscan environment. From this, Camalaione stands out as a beautiful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, with Riserva-level aging refining the bouquet of the final product.

Aluigi Gran Selezione

Chianti Classico

Aluigi hails from a single vineyard of Le Cinciole's estate. A newer bottling for the team, the styling conforms to Chianti Classico's newest labeling allowance: Gran Selezione, requiring even more time before release than a Riserva. This ageing is achieved both in barrel and bottle over the course of three years. The 100% sangiovese benefits from more clay dense soils, providing a generous flavor profile as well as notable age worthiness.

Chianti Classico

Chianti Classico

Born in the first days of the estate's history, Le Cinciole's Chianti Classico is a deeply enjoyable, vibrant Sangiovese. Fruit is sourced from entirely organic vineyards in the heart of the DOCG and is spontaneously vinified in neutral containers for two years. The result is an undeniably characteristic Chianti, with an added level of verve from conscientious vineyard management

People

Luca and Valerie Orsini

Leaving careers in architecture and academia, respectively, Luca and Valerie Orsini relocated from Milan to the "Land of Quintius", the ancient Roman name for the area that gives Le Cinciole its name. They immediately enacted organic and biodynamic principles, as their love of the land extends beyond its superficial beauty. Their constant efforts to modernize the facilities while respecting the historical style of region have built Le Cinciole into one of the most respected estates in Chianti Classico today.
