Ponzi Vineyards Pinot Noir Reserve 2017 (93 VM)

“Glistening ruby-red. Expansive red and dark berry preserve, mocha and cola scents reveal complementary candied rose and baking spice nuances. Palate-coating cherry cola and blackberry flavors are sweetened by a late touch of vanilla. Bitter chocolate and anise notes appear on a long, subtly chewy finish framed by well-integrated tannins. Made with 40% whole clusters and raised in 30% new French oak barrels.”– J.R. 2/22

Today winemaker Luisa Ponzi continues her work with the family of Champagne Bollinger, which acquired the estate in 2021.
