A Young Woman Continues Her Parents’ Legacy In Abruzzo

Forbes contributors Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen interviewed Miriam Lee Masciarelli for a story that focuses on her role continuing her family’s legacy at their namesake winery, Masciarelli. As background, Miriam Lee’s involvement began in 2008, when she assumed the role of Winery Administrator following the sudden passing of her father, Gianni Masciarelli.

The piece speaks to the family’s influential role putting Abruzzo on the map as a serious winegrowing region, and Miriam and her mother, Marina Cvetic’s, role expanding the family’s footprint and continuing to raise quality standards in the region. The piece also explains how, as Brand Ambassador, Miriam Lee focuses on promotions, sponsorships and events worldwide. Education is a huge focus for her on a daily basis as well, as she explains to Mike and Jeff how critical it is to teach consumers first about Abruzzo and the terroir before presenting their wines, emphasizing the premium Villa Gemma Montepulciano and Villa Gemma Bianco expressions.

Villa Gemma is the wine that announced Abruzzo to the world, showcasing what the region and grapes of Abruzzo could produce. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is the only Italian wine with 14 consecutive Tre Bicchieri awards and, more importantly, was the wine that established Abruzzo as capable of making truly distinct, extraordinary wines. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is a powerfully – almost undeniably – intense wine of character and complexity.
