Champagne and Potato Chips

Washington Examiner columnist Eric Felten’s latest column explores the always satisfying pairing of Champagne and potato chips, inspired by a scene in The Seven Year Itch. While the image of Marilyn Monroe grappling with the skirt of her white, halter-top dress in this film has become one of the most iconic movie images of all time, Felten actually notes that his favorite scene in the movie is when Monroe brings Tom Ewell a bag of potato chips and a bottle of Champagne and asks “Hey, did you ever try dunking a potato chip in champagne? It’s real crazy – here,” and feeds him one. Felten provides more context in the scene, and then offers his top picks for champagnes to enjoy with potato chips, including Bollinger Special Cuvée for its “perfect balance.” Read the full, entertaining story HERE

Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. Known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne, their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail and incredibly labor-intensive practices that few houses are willing to undertake. Underscoring its excellence, Bollinger has remained British secret agent James Bond's Champagne of choice since 1973.
