Ferrer Bobet Priorat 2016 (92+ WA) (92+)
“2016 was a fresher year than 2015, and so the 2016 Ferrer-Bobet is also fresher than the 2015, with a little less alcohol and more acidity. The blend changed a bit—there is less Syrah and Cabernet (a constant in the last few years)—to 60% Cariñena, 25% Garnacha, 10% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a beautiful nose of fresh fruit, with cherries and a peachy quality, very subtle oak and spices. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and vibrant acidity.”
Ferrer Bobet's Priorat is produced from their own vineyards planted in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and grapes from 20 year old vineyards near Porrera. It's a Carignan-based blend consisting of Carignan (48%), Grenache (22%), Syrah (23%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%). If fulfills the vision of elegance, freshness and detail that were the key reasons for starting the estate.
Ferrer Bobet is about respect. Firstly, the mutual respect of two friends, Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet and their passion for the world and culture of wine. Secondly, the respect for the long traditions of viticulture and vinification in Priorat and a commitment to the economic and social development of the region. Thirdly, and above all, the respect for the terroir and a dedication to producing wines that reflect the distinctive mineral essence from the land.
