About this video

Since the summer of 2003, Domaine Guigal has been relentlessly committed to improving its knowledge of wine and its surrounding environment. This has lead the Domaine to embark on a great, new adventure: Cooperage.

In the historic 15th and 17th century buildings at the Château d’Ampuis, skilled artisans cooper shapes, assemble and heat traditional pieces of wood into barrels that are destined to raise the wines of the house. In order to achieve such a feat, Domaine Gugial uses a mix of both artisanal and ancestral gestures that allow the wines the luxury of being aged in oak barrels of high forest and fine grains from the largest forests in France.
